Dr. Lewis F. Jones III received his Bachelor of
Science Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign in 1989. He was awarded the U.S. Army Health
Professions Scholarship to attend the Illinois College of
Optometry in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated with
highest honors in 1993. During his training in Chicago, he
received numerous academic achievement and clinical
excellence awards.
He started his career serving as a medical officer in the
U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia. His hospitalbased
training at Martin Army Hospital allowed him to
become an assistant clinical professor for the University of
Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Houston.
Since his honorable discharge from the Army, he has been
in private practice for the last ten years, working in various
locations including a corneal and LASIK specialty practice
based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Over the years, Dr. Jones has acquired extensive experience
in several areas of eye care including laser vision
correction consultation, glaucoma treatment, cataracts,
diabetic eye disease, dry eye, eye injuries, and corneal
diseases.
Dr. Jones has been a senior examiner on the National
Board of Examiners in Optometry for several years. He is
responsible for testing the skills of potential optometric
professionals before they receive their state licenses. He is
also a member of the American Optometric Association,
Illinois Optometric Association, Southwestern Illinois Optometric
Society, the Illinois Society for the Prevention of
Blindness, and the Barnes Eye Care Network. In 2004, he
received America's Top Optometrist award.
He and his three children live in Edwardsville, Illinois and
are very active in the community. |
