Common Symptoms Requiring
Emergency Medical Eye Care
The following is an example list of potentially
serious ocular symptoms. You may
have an eye emergency if you experience
any of the following symptoms:
- Severe Swelling of Eye Lids
- Redness and/or Discharge
- Redness and Pain
- Sudden Loss of Vision
- Pain In and Around the Eye(s)
- Double Vision
- Flashes of Light
- Onset of Large Floaters and/or Spots
- Onset of lumps or bumps on eye or lid
- Onset of blind spots in peripheral vision
- Sudden “Clouding” of Vision
- Constantly Watering Eye(s)
- Scratchy Feeling in the Eye(s) for more than 24 hours
This is not a complete list. However,
these are the most common symptoms
associated with most medical eye emergencies.
